Spring Path Racer

• Try as I might, it just wasn't possible this morning to coax the path racer to balance, even for a second, in order to get a clean, non-leaning shot. But then again, this website isn't exactly professional and the photos tend to be anything but. So here is the first path racer of spring, but on an appropriately windy Wednesday.

  Understated in British Racing Green, silver and brown, and very solid, this build features fully sealed bearings all around, courtesy of Tange and Formula. The saddle and matching leather bar tape are Brooks honey. As always, the hoops are handbuilt for the rider's weight, terrain, and riding style and they're shod with 28c Panaracer/Rivendell Ruffy Tuffy gumwalls. Mikashima provides the pedals, Sugino the cranks, and Euro Asia the lockring and cog. Francophile cantilevers and NOS Dia-Compe brake levers round out the mix.

  This is a classic form and will serve its owner both as a fabulously classy commuter as well as a proper fixed wheel training tool as he gears up for his first Ironman. Next month it will receive a few more goodies: metal fenders, a chainguard, and stem painted to match.
