Almost forgot about Phil Wood

• I was complaining the other day about external bottom brackets: despite their many legitimate benefits, the dang things are just flimsy, ugly, and disposable. I sure do like the sound of the new Chris King external bottom brackets, but have yet to give one a spin myself. But a big part of my absolutely loves the oxymoron that is a Phil Wood external BB. It has a highly polished aluminum sleeve invisible to the world! It's twice as heavy as the competition! It has indestructible, replaceable bearings!

  And whilst ranting: I see that Phil Wood still insists on a PDF based website.

  But for those of you pondering some swankified touring or track wheels this winter... don't rule out Phil Wood freewheel hubs, as they're quite the bargain. And the anodized track hubs are in stock in all colors, which would pair rather well with colored spoke and some of the Limited Edition Deep Vs... free wheelbuild labor in February, don't forget!
