Ultimate Road Wheels

• EB's custom titanium roadie was born a year ago. Due to budgetary constraints, the beautiful minimalist frame was paired with a functional but humble build kit. Thanks to a summer of tutoring GSB students for their maths exams, EB now has the funds to transform his ride into the ultimate, timeless road bike that we'd originally discussed.

  First up is a new wheelset. It's an odd mixture of the super light and the super durable, resulting in some of the strongest and most visually striking hoops I've seen in a long time. The heart of the wheelset is a pair of heavy-as-sin high flange Phil Wood 32h road hubs. They are laced to DT Swiss RR 1.2 rims in silver using Sapim CX Ray spokes and DT Swiss Prolock nipples.

  The wheels will be wrapped with Schwalbe Durano rubber and should last for many thousands of kilometers.
